As a kid I loved to play Monopoly. But I noticed that in the beginning, everyone is happy and having fun, but then as the game goes on and fortunes are made and lost, people change. Suddenly you see a darker side of them. Relationships can have that same emotional arc. Over time, you may start to see different aspects of your partner’s personality you don’t really like. I read somewhere that before you marry someone, you should first play Monopoly with them.

Lyrics

DON’T PASS GO

Baby we were so Marvin Gardens
A little green house just getting started
You and me life was simple and sweet
Saved up our money took a ride on reading
Rode those rails all the sites we were seeing life was grand
Never knowing where we would land
But baby you started taking those chances
Making money instead of romance is
Not the way I plan to throw my dice

Just so you know - oh oh
You don’t pass go with me anymore
Just so you know - oh oh
You don’t pass go with me anymore

Then you started buying everything in sight
Talking bout living that park place high life I could see
You wanted more than me
Building houses paying luxury taxes
Burning through cash like a pack of paper matches you didn’t care
Cause there was so much there
All that money had you under its spell
Spending all your nights in your big red hotels
But baby I won’t be paying your rent tonight

Just so you know - oh oh
You don’t pass go with me anymore
Just so you know - oh oh
You don’t pass go with me anymore

Just so you know - oh oh
You don’t pass go with me anymore
Just so you know - oh oh
You don’t pass go with me anymore

Baby we were so Marvin Gardens
A little green house just getting started
You and me when life was simple and sweet
