John’s songs reflect his passion for the music that inspired him back when he was growing up and listening to his older brother’s classic Rock and Soul collection. "I simply try to have fun and be honest", says John. "I do tend to reveal my own life through song. You can definitely hear the fun in some tracks, while others reflect a longing and the painful life lessons we all have to learn.

"For me it boils down to connection. Songs connect us all intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Writing is about thinking of the things we can relate to and those we can only imagine, particularly from other people’s perspectives. I crave that connection… and I want to add my experience from my own little world to the mix."

John’s originals are remarkably honest and infused with true emotion. Though his style is entrenched in the music of his heroes, with maturity has come an appreciation of a wider palette, now reflected in his new album, Open.
